Clint Blevins slowed down his footage to show the sheer magnitude of the lightning bolt striking the ocean. The video has gone viral since being uploaded to YouTube, receiving over 10 million views and counting.

Apparently Florida is no stranger to severe lightning with the state earning the title of “lightning capital” of the United States. This appellation comes from the fact that Florida ranks number one in the number of deaths due to lightning.

According to the University of Florida, the state experiences storms approximately 100 days out of the year with 94% of lightning related deaths occurring between late May and end of September.
