Liberals want to make everything that we hold dear bad, including the simple act of hugging grandma or grandpa. Does everything have to be about victim-hood to these people?
I understand the need to grant children autonomy – to a point. I understand that they have a right to not have to be forced to hug someone they don’t want to, even if that person is a relative. And, if your child is very resistant to touch from someone, you should be taking that as a serious red alert!
My concern, however, is that liberals have taken this idea too far, like they do everything else.
The biggest problem here is that family values are being perverted into something “wrong” by liberals. It is not wrong for grandparents, or any family member, to want a close relationship with the children of the family. There’s nothing sinister about it!
These parents take bodily autonomy too far, teaching their children to be resistant to touch, and, by extension, to the guidance and support of their elders.
They’re ruining their child’s support network. Boy, are they going to regret this attitude in the teen years.
As an ordained minister, I believe this issue can be brought new light with a Bible verse: “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.” (Isaiah 5:20)
These same liberals who are busy teaching their kids to be resistant to touch and scared of their own shadow seem to forget that close families, who support one another, are your best guidance in life. Having affectionate grandparents is a good thing.
Moreover, these same liberals are also making it difficult for their children to ask for help when needed. I’m not just talking about long-term, I mean if they are in a grocery store and are lost, their parent’s instilled trust issues will make it hard for them to get help! Which will actually make them more susceptible to a predator.
We all would do well to “rightly divide the word of truth” and think about what is best for each of us. Political correctness and feminism are NOT the right way to raise a child, that is for sure.
